Description
Pingus 2022 — Dominio de Pingus, Ribera del Duero
Pingus is one of the most acclaimed wines in Spain. Born in Ribera del Duero under winemaker Peter Sisseck; it comes from a small group of old vines of Tinto Fino (Tempranillo)planted on poor soils of clay and limestone.
The 2022 vintage stands out for its concentrated character, its extremely limited production and the meticulous work carried out both in the vineyard and in the winery.
Peter Sisseck, the winemaker who changed the Ribera
An agricultural engineer and winemaker, Peter Sisseck he arrived in Spain in the early nineties. His work with small plots of old vineyards in La Horra gave rise to Pingus, whose first vintage was bottled in 1995.
Historic vines and limited production
The vines used for Pingus come from very old vineyards with low yields. The harvest is done by hand and the grape selection is especially rigorous, contributing to the unique character and the limited availability of each vintage.
Winemaking and aging
Production is characterized by very careful intervention, fermentations with native yeasts and subsequent aging in French oak, seeking to preserve the identity of the vineyard and the expression of the variety.
Tasting profile
The 2022 vintage shows a deep cherry color and an aromatic profile with notes of ripe red and black fruit, mineral nuances and hints of fine wood. On the palate it shows concentration, structure and a long finish.
